My progress through the first Quarter- SLC

In humanities class we learned about many things.  One of those many things were the Chinese history and that the Boxers fought vs the foreigners.  Also Its main tradition that is foot binding, we also read a book that was about foot binding. The name of the book is Ties that bind ties that break.  Also all this relates to the vocabulary words that we were studying.  Some of the words are tirade, imperialism and wailing.  We worked on the vocabulary words in quizlet. After we learned all these words we got all the interesting words and put them all in an order.  Example: Tradition- wailing because doesn't wont tradition.
During all the reading we did some tests/ quizes about the book and the new vocabulary words.  Every day we reading our BIG learning targets, the big learning targets is a goal we we have for out class.  We always try to complete our goals.  My teacher posts our homework and grades on veracross, parents can view our scores.  She also tells us if our quizes or tests are summative or formative.  Formative doesn't count for grade, however summative does count for grade.
One pretty big topic that is literature circle.  How to managed to, organize, prepare and talk.   We learned that a good literature circle has book open to use evidence, eye contact and listening.  We should always bring a pencil and some papers to help you out  for a better presentation.  We used cameras to see how we do part of the literature circle. In Edpuzzle we look at videos and answer questions.
For my learning habits I would give myself a 4 for responsibility because I always bring all the materials necessary for class.  Also I am responsible for doing my homework, writing in agenda, looking at veracroos, and when arriving to class I start work quickly by getting out 1 or 2 min before recess ends.  A 3 for curious because I ask questions and tell myself what were going to do in class.  I would give myself a 3 for being inclusive because I work well with people like my friends.  Being inclusive also means inviting people mostly, one example were I invite is at lunch and recess.  For me one of the most important is perseverance/ risk taker.  I would give myself a 3 for perseverance/risk taker because I always try my best to get good grades and to know what the teacher expects me to know.  However sometimes I chat with my friends and get distracted.  Adding on it isn't often that I chat in class with my friends.   This is a chart that I did that gives a bit more examples about what I think are my scores, in all classes.
Last but not least, I will talk about class scribe and what is it.  Class scribe is when you are chosen to write a blog post about how was your day at school.  What you did in class, your homework, agenda that is what we do in class, it is shown on the board.  Everyone in the class does class scribe.  We also add photos of people working hard and videos. My class scribe post.  My best core value/ learning habit is responsible.  It is responsible because I always bring my materials and always do my homework.  Rarely I don't do my. homework

Some goals I have
  • read 20-30 min every day
  • write a summary or tell my parents about the book I read

What does power mean to me?

Power to me means when someone rules a place.  Power is also when someone makes decisions to other people and me.  I have power, I have power to control what I do, to do what I want.  Decide my future, separate my clothing for the next day and know when to do something and when not.  I usually have power daily, at home especially.   Another type of power is the power in my fist and on my legs.  I have majority of power in my brain and heart that controls me from doing something.  Power can become decisions you make, you may become powerful. The real power isn't the power of force it is the power of your brain.

SLC math reflection

1,2,3,4,5, numbers and more numbers can you imagine all those patterns and numbers in the world.  Well there are thousands and thousands of those patterns and numbers.
In this math test (2) I mastered giving values of angles.  I did some mistakes on it by 1 or 2 points away.  There are also many millions patterns in the world some that you don't even imagine.  Some that are easy to notice if you look closely is a flower, bee hive, snail shell and more.
Another very important sequence that we should know is the pascals triangle.  The pascal triangle is a triangle that has lots of numbers.  Some of them are 1,1,2 so on.  Every where you look there must be a pattern.  Patterns are not invented it was discovered and invented. Partly discovered because no one found it, however it was kind of invented because the numbers were invented. After all it is basically discovered millions of years ago.

Learning Habit
My Score
Reasoning for Score
Inclusive: Demonstrates respect for others and the community and works collaboratively with others.
3
I think I got a 3 because I respect others the same way they want to be treated.  Also I work well with friends and other people.  In math I work well with my friends when problems are hard or difficult.  In lunch I respect others in the way they can sit with me. Plus I don't judge them.
Curious: Exhibits an active learning style which demonstrates a commitment to deepening their understanding.
3
I think I deserve a 3 because In portuguese I am always wanting to to learn and see what comes next.  Sometimes, (rarely) I get a little distracted with who is sitting next to me. However they help me usually.
Responsible: Demonstrates responsibility by arriving prepared for class with assignments and materials.
4
I think I got a 4 because, I am responsible because I always come prepared to class with all my materials, like pencil case, homework, book, folder, agenda and more.  I also arrive at a good time to class About 5 min before class really starts.
Perseverance/Risk taker: Exhibits perseverance when faced with challenges.
3
I think I got a 3 because I usually persevere and try to be a risk taker like raising your hands, That is a huge one, In math I am not much of a risk taker because I don't try to do the hardest problems.

Above shows for all classes.   For my learning habits I need to be more curious. I think I got a 3 for it I am not being so curious in class like I should be.   For risk taker I am a

Science reflection

In the beginning of the first quarter, we started learning about the proper clothing for wearing during lab time and their names.  We also learned how to determine which chemicals are dangerous. In addition we studied names of certain tools.  We had some quizzes on which tools should be used and what time.  As an example, when dissecting objects we should certainly use the dissecting pin, the dissecting plate, tweezers, etc. When doing all these awesome experiments we always take off jewelry,  watches and big heavy coats. We put on gloves, lab coat and glasses.

This first quarter I think my learning habits were pretty good.  I think I did best on the learning habit called responsibility.  I think for responsibility I would grade myself a 4, because I always bring my materials to class, and never get late.  I think for inclusive I gave myself a 3, because I usually try to invite other people to work with me.  I gave myself a 3, for being risk taking and perseverance because I try my best to say the answers out loud and because I try my best even if it is hard.  One example is after working with chemicals in class, when it was over and I had to go to my bus I  remembered that my table wasn't clean from doing the experiment, so I went to clean because it can be dangerous.  I would grade myself a 3 for curious, because I usually try to know what is going to happen next in class.  I always try to predict what class will be like and what were going to do.
Lucas and Isaac writing down our answers.
During this first quarter I had lots of fun working with my friends and new people.  While doing these experiments and working hard, I learned many new things.  As an example,  to see the exact amount of chemical that needs to be put inside a test tube, you need to look at a straight angle.  I also learned that unnecessary materials should be kept under your desk at all times for the materials not to get ruined and for them not to occupy too much space.  A couple of examples of unnecessary materials are a pencil case and computers.  Always clean  your table after used, because someone may sit on your chair, put their elbow on the table, and find out there was acid on the table. Experiments may be tough IF you don't follow the rules, step by step.

PE 6 grade 1st quarter

In this quarter we worked on

  1. Frisbee
  2. soccer
  3. gymnastic
The work that I did in this quarter was very good.  I frisbee I did well on long passes, fast passes and more.  In soccer I learned how to pass with my bad foot and kick.  I was a communicator when I had to pass the ball or when I wanted the ball.   Last but not least I worked on gymnastic (last).  I was a risk taker and a hard worker when I had to do things a never thought I could do. Example: Cart wheels, back row.  All of the activities were fun.  It was a great start.
