Scientist look through microscopes for many reasons. They look in it to look at germes and things that you cant see with your naked eye. With a microscope you can also view moleques, liquids etc. We would color something that is colorless with a very dark color.

writing reflections
This quarter, there were many challenges in my writing. I used to write shorter stories but now they are longer and more complex. Also I used to write the sentences without thinking about pacing. Now I realize that pacing is very important, because it makes the reader read the story in parts. As an example the story can move slow in the beginning, fast in the middle and medium in the end. The writer can choose in which part of the story they want to move slow, medium or fast.
Another change in my writing is that I use figurative language more frequently. I enjoy using it because it make me feel more into the story. I now know how to use a comparison such as "The blood trickling down, looked like a trail of ants. " I also used this simile in my writing, " He kicks the door open and runs out as fast as a cheetah.", which I used in my historical fiction narrative : https://docs.google.com/a/graded.br/document/d/1tqqNkY-FDJYf3sKfDhYbmj3lGImYmO4SL4VGM3-s0fM/edit. Another simile that I can use is "the dogs fur was so hot I felt like I was wearing a jacket on a sunny day. "
Previously I had never used footnotes, but now I know that it is important because the reader can understand the words better. I used footnotes frequently when writing my last historical writing, because there are more historical facts that some people may not know. As an example, I did a footnote on "passbook" Link and the name Hector, who was the first boy killed in the Soweto Uprising.
I think my biggest growth this quarter was on writing a historical fiction. It was difficult because I was writing about a time in which I was not there and did not know about. I still hope to improve on having a sequence and writing without making easy grammar mistakes. The learning target that I did most of was perseverance and risk taker, because in writing long stories you have to be very engaged all the time. Also I had to take risks in using figurative language. I think I worked very well on BlT 3, sensory details.

quick write
It is a sunny day 1990 many shadows all around the floor. when I looked outside the window and saw death, screams and cries. The screams were so loud my ears popped immediately. I saw tears dripping down like a rapid waterfall. It was sad, I immediately asked someone "Hey what happened'? They responded saying " go home, I was stunned I was paralyzed for 20 seconds. Wind blowing hard, I could hear the hissing of the wind slapping my ears. Crowds of people walking down the streets. I looked down and saw blood stains on the the street. It looked red, dark and oozing down the road.
I got nearer to the blood, and looked where it came from, I saw it came from the sidewalk a bloody boy on his dads hand. Along the edge of the sidewalk rolled a tear gas down the sidewalk.

How can language be a form of oppression?
Language can be a form of oppression when some one says a word in a language that you don't know and it is talking about race. It is also when the students in Soweto Uprising:thousands of students stand united. This is when all those students protesting that they wanted freedom and no difference in race. How people judge others bye there skin color or eyes etc. In the book typewriter the police were capturing people who got out of there houses plus they would be in trouble.

SLC script
Hello mom and dad, today I will be talking to you about my learning habits and core values plus my attendance at graded. Also about Humanities, math and Portuguese. We are also going to talk about my strengths and weaknesses.
The first artifact I will be discussing is My progress through the first Quarter, In humanities class. This work that I will talk about is Ties that bind book, Boxer rebellion, Chinese history class scribe posts and Specific vocabulary words. The learning targets I met and exceeded were being responsible, were I met was being inclusive. The artifact shows me the learning targets because first, I feel confidant second I made a grid for myself That I will show later. What I gave myself, later the teacher came and gave me the grade for that, you can see in veracross. What I did to get I good grade in responsible is always bring materials to class and never get late. What I struggled on is being a bit talkative in class. I got better at it by sitting a bit farther so then they don't interrupt me I I get defocused. A core value I do well is respecting others, because when someone does the wrong math problem at the board and they say I did it I am respectful so I don't laugh.
This quarter I was absent zero times. I was late to class once because I had to finish my math test. There is not much to improve however I should go a bit faster on tests and skip some. One way I behaved professionally was by having eye contact and hearing what the teacher has to say. I can improve by having a posture and not leaning down. What I plan for the next quarter is to act more professionals by having more eye contact.
One core value I am very good at is innovative, getting new ideas to share with the class. One core value I can improve is being positive because sometimes I am leaning down on my chair and being negative.

My Score
|
Reasoning for Score
|
Inclusive: Demonstrates respect for others and the community and works collaboratively with others.
|
3
|
I think I got a 3 because I respect others the same way they want to be treated. Also I work well with friends and other people. In math I work well with my friends when problems are hard or difficult. In lunch I respect others in the way they can sit with me. Plus I don't judge them.
|
Curious: Exhibits an active learning style which demonstrates a commitment to deepening their understanding.
|
3
|
I think I deserve a 3 because In portuguese I am always wanting to to learn and see what comes next. Sometimes, (rarely) I get a little distracted with who is sitting next to me. However they help me usually.
|
Responsible: Demonstrates responsibility by arriving prepared for class with assignments and materials.
|
4
|
I think I got a 4 because, I am responsible because I always come prepared to class with all my materials, like pencil case, homework, book, folder, agenda and more. I also arrive at a good time to class About 5 min before class really starts.
|
Perseverance/Risk taker: Exhibits perseverance when faced with challenges.
|
3
|
I think I got a 3 because I usually persevere and try to be a risk taker like raising your hands, That is a huge one, In math I am not much of a risk taker because I don't try to do the hardest problems.
|
In advisory I did this, and I rated myself, my score plus reasonings.
Strengths and weaknesses
My strengths, Is being responsible because in every class I go to I never forget any materials except when the teacher lets use leave our headphones in our locker and get it when we need. The class that I have most strengths on is PE. I think that is a strength for me because I am good in the part of physics and running.
